Natal Possible For PC

Microsoft’s Project Natal was announced as a controller-free device for Xbox 360 gaming. However, Microsoft chairman Bill Gates thinks the technology could be put to great effect on the PC as well.
In an interview with CNET News, Gates said that the gesture recognition technology used in Natal could be used “for media consumption as a whole, and even if they connect it up to Windows PCs for interacting in terms of meetings, and collaboration, and communication.”
Gates added: “I think the value is as great for if you’re in the home, as you want to manage your movies, music, home system type stuff, it’s very cool there. And I think there’s incredible value as we use that in the office connected to a Windows PC. So Microsoft research and the product groups have a lot going on there, because you can use the cost reduction that will take place over the years to say, why shouldn’t that be in most office environments.”
With regards to the PC, he seems to be only referring to business applications. I wonder if using Natal-like technology for gaming applications on the PC is in the cards as well.
While a Natal-enabled PC wouldn’t be able to play party games in the same way as a Xbox 360 (how many people have a PC in their living room, after all), there’s still plenty of potential there. Imagine playing StarCraft with Natal and ordering units around by pointing your finger.
