Peter Klaven (Paul Rudd) is a successful real estate agent and is preparing to marry the woman of his dreams, Zooey (Rashida Jones). Peters only problem is that he has no best man, or any male friends for that matter. After a series of failed man-dates, Peter meets Sydney (Jason Segel), an uninhibited and fun loving guy unable to keep his opinions to himself. Sydney teaches Peter to loosen up a bit, but perhaps a little too much and their friendship puts a strain on Peters relationship with Zooey.
If youre a fan of buddy comedies I Love You, Man is definitely for you. It gives you exactly what youre looking for in a movie of this nature but with an original twist giving it its own flavor. As usual, the chemistry between Rudd and Segel is seamless and downright hilarious. The films only pitfall is that its rather repetitive with its gags. If youre not into this type of romantic comedy, the plot will not be strong enough to hold your interest once the jokes become tiresome.
For you comedy lovers, I Love You, Man on DVD and Blu-ray will certainly meet your approval. First off, nothing makes me happier than to see a DVD version of a film and its Blu-ray counterpart being populated with nearly the same bonus material. Not everyone owns a Blu-ray player or can afford to spare the extra cash on more expensive discs. Why should someone be penalized for being economical and opting for the DVD version? No matter what you choose, youll get an 18-minute behind-the scenes featurette, extended scenes, deleted scenes, commentary by director John Hamburg, Rudd and Segel and, best of all, a gag reel. The only element thats exclusive to the BD version is the red band trailer. The DVD will run you 29.99 and the BD 39.99.
