Oxygens latest unscripted series Addicted To Beauty couldnt be better titled. The series, which follows the inner workings of a spa and plastic surgery business called Changes Plastic Surgery, is employed entirely by people who love what theyre selling.
The series opens with the marriage of a spa and a plastic surgery clinic. Dr. Gilbert Lee, the plastic surgeon is hoping that combining his practice with a spa might generate revenue and bring in new clients. While Dr. Lees in charge of all things surgical, Dianne York-Goldman is heading up the spa-side of the practice and shes brought in her A-team to get the place up and running. This includes her Executive Assistant, Natasha, spa concierge Ronnie and receptionist Gary. She also hires spa director Shannyn, a no-nonsense woman whose main goal is to generate revenue for the business.
In the series opener and the episode that follows, we see two different parties, both of which are meant to draw attention to the practice. Theres also a cute little before and after story about a marine woman who stops in for a breast augmentation. The business and what they actually do at Changes Plastic Surgery (booking surgeries, botox treatments, selling glamour products, etc) is only part of what makes up this new series. Its evident that all of the employees working at this San Diego based business have a history together. There are struggles for power and bickering over who sold more products and has the most responsibilities and even random side-segments like Natasha going out on a date with a Christmas-sweater-loving pharmaceutical sales rep.
We come to learn that while Dianne wants Shannyn around to boss around the staff and get them moving, that doesnt include bossing around the boss. Meanwhile, Ronnie, Gary and Natasha all seem to have the whole frenemy-thing going on. And in the middle of all of this is Dr. Lee, the sweet, professional plastic surgeon who seems to just want to do his job and avoid whatever sparks of drama might start flying in his practice.
If youre looking for a series thats all about plastic surgery and upgrading, this isnt it. Theres plenty of that enough to justify the premise of the show anyway but what Oxygen has done here is taken a workplace reality series and combined it with a show about a plastic surgery and spa business. Between the clientele and the employees, theres more than enough Botox to go around. Add that to the drama and stress that comes with running a business and trying to look beautiful at the same time and I think Oxygen has a pretty solid reality series on its hands.

It looks like NBCs Today will be having a bit of Tori-time as this week progresses. The network announced that starting Monday, Tori Spelling will be joining Kathie Lee Gifford as a Gust Co-Host on Today.
Fans of Spelling will get to see her on Today during the shows fourth hour of the show starting Monday morning and shell appear again on Tuesday and Wednesday as well. Spelling gained fame for her starring role as Donna Martin in Beverly Hills, 90210 and has risen quite high in the reality TV world due to her Oxygen show Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, which follows Spelling, her husband Dean McDermott and their two children Liam and Stella as they go about their lives working and raising kids in La-La-Land.
Between Spellings reality show, which is currently airing new episodes on Oxygen (Tuesday nights at 10) and her recent book Mommywood, Im sure she and Kathie Lee Gifford will have plenty to talk about tomorrow morning.

Wow, based on the promo for this Mondays episode of Oxygens new competitive series Dance Your Ass Off, one of the contestants is having a major freak-out moment. Meanwhile, as the competition heats up, one dancer gets hurt.
Dance Your Ass Off follows a group of overweight people as they attempt to lose weight while also winning over the judges with choreographed dance routines. The series premiere last week with one contestant being eliminated. From the looks of the promo for Monday nights episode (below), the pressure is really starting to get to some of the contestants. Im not sure if the screaming fit is quite as bizarre as Lauries meltdown in TV Lands Shes Got the Look but it definitely ranks up there with this summers best reality show WTF moments.
Dance Your Ass Off airs Monday nights at 10:00 p.m. ET on Oxygen.

Who says big people cant dance? This Monday night Oxygen will premiere their new original unscripted series Dance Your Ass Off, which follows twelve overweight contestants as they attempt to lose weight by dancing.
The premise of the series combines your typical TV dance competition (think Dancing with the stars without the stars) and a weight loss competition much like The Biggest Loser. The contestants have trainers, dance instructors, their own costume designers and even a doctor around to help make sure the contestants medical issues are tended to and theyre getting healthy (and not hurting themselves in the process).
In the pilot episode, were introduced to the contestants and given a little bit of information about their backgrounds and their motivations. Their ages range from 23 to 43 and while some are single, others are married with kids. For most of them, weight has always been a problem but there are some contestants who were thin when they were younger and would like to get back to that place, physically.
The contestants are set up with a professional dance partner who works with them on their routine. The routine is only half the battle though. After each contestant performs, theyre weighed in and the score given to them by the judges is combined with the percentage of body weight lost. The contestant with the lowest combined score is eliminated.
If youre looking for a series with amazing dancing, this isnt it. The contestants can certainly dance but theyre hardly professional dancers and the routines aren’t anything spectacular. Then again, this is coming from someone whos blown away by some of the routines shes seen on Foxs So You Think You Can Dance. As far as great dancing goes, its kind of hard to go from regularly watching that show to Dance Your Ass Off and not see a drastic difference in this series. While some of the contestants have more skills on the dance floor than others, this isnt a professional dance competition. The just-ok dancing has less to do with the contestants weight as it does their inexperience and Im thinking that given the potential in some of the contestants, well see a lot of improvements there as the series goes on. As far as I can tell though, this series has less to do with dancing as it does in seeing the contestants hard work pay off on the scale. What stands out more than anything is the enthusiasm and motivation of the contestants. They want to succeed. Theyre willing to work for it and theyre not afraid to put themselves out there and have fun. It is for this reason above anything else that Dance Your Ass Off is a worth-watching new series.

This Monday Oxygen will premiere their new dance competition, Dance Your Ass Off. From the video clips we have, it looks like this series is a combination of Dancing with the Stars and The Biggest Loser. The contestants arent celebrities, however they are all overweight and hoping that dancing will lead them to their weight loss goals and a hefty cash prize.
Hosted by Tony Award winning actress Marissa Jaret Winokur, the series follows a group of plus-sized men and women all of whom will be teamed up with a professional dance partner. Each week theyll be trained in a dance routine and set to perform a different style of dance. The scores they receive from the judges for the dance routine will be combined with their weight loss each week and determine which contestant will be eliminated. Below is Oxygens description for the series:
Twelve dance enthusiasts who battle the bulge will battle each other on the dance floor AND on the scale for a shot at the 100,000 grand prize. Frustrated by a lifetime of failed diets and workout fads, these contestants leave their friends and family behind and move into the Dance Your Ass Off loft for 10 weeks determined to change their lives forever.
Each contestant will be paired with a professional dance partner who will train them for their weekly stage performances ranging from hip hop, to tango and even pole dancing! Then theyll shake and rattle their rolls in front of a live studio audience and a panel of expert judges: choreographer Danny Teeson, dancer/choreographer Mayte Garcia and dancer/actress Lisa Ann Walter. The judges will score the routines, and then the contestants will weigh in to reveal their weekly weight loss. The dance score and the weight loss are combined for an overall score, which will determine who is sent home.
Dance Your Ass Off airs Mondays on Oxygen Media (10-11 p.m. ET); Premieres June 29th.
